SOL
Somerset
Organic Link is a co-operative of organic producers in South Somerset
working together to sell their produce collectively to local markets,
in order to give customers a wide range and continuity of supply.
We
sell a range of fresh organic field vegetables, as well as a selection
of crops from polytunnels and glasshouses. Fruit and out-of-season produce
are bought in from outside the county where necessary to meet customer
demand.
The
co-op has a reputation for supplying fresh, delicious organic vegetables
and fruit at affordable prices. The co-op’s service is friendly
and accommodating. Ask any of our customers.
SOL
values its direct contact with customers. Several farmers’
markets in Somerset have a SOL stall. The co-op has its
own seasonal vegetable box scheme and also supplies Somerset Local Food
Direct, a home-delivery service operating in the Glastonbury and Yeovil
area.
Year
on year, SOL aims to reduce the gap between Somerset - grown organic
produce and imported produce. Somerset is lucky enough to have large
areas of grade 1 agricultural land - in and around South Petherton and
near Frome - which are ideal for growing vegetables. SOL’s sales
records consistently show that there is a market for Somerset produce
and SOL is keen to encourage organic growers in the county to join the
co-op.
The
co-op delivers organic fruit and vegetables throughout South Somerset
and West Dorset. We also have customers in Devon, Wiltshire, Bristol
and occasionally further afield.
SOL
is registered with the Soil Association (Organic Certification UK5 /
P932)
